Green Legionnaires & Phils Fever,
Just a couple items here and then we are talking Birds! Well, we are talking Birds here the entire time, but I want to give you some San Diego updates and some Green Legion updates. First, I want to let you know that San Diego is full of things to do! You might already know this, but I don't want everyone to feel like The Legion and the alcoholic that runs it is only concerned with getting you sauced. Not the case! I am concerned with getting you sauced WHILE you are doing all kinds of fun things! So, that being said, we are currently working on group discounts for golf at Torrey Pines, the San Diego Zoo, Sea World (and from the classic movie White Men Can't Jump...Go back to Sea World mother f&**er!!!), and something I am REALLY excited to tell you about, either Friday or Saturday of the trip, we will have the 1st ever Green Legion Fishing Tournament!!! Yeah, you guys already know how much I love this! Well, it will be one that you don't have to be an expert at, just something you want to do!! More details to come but we are in the process of booking party boats and I will set up the calcuttas! Should be a good time and hopefully The Legion will have a fish fry on the beach later that day!
And real fast and I have to do this every year just so people know. This year, The Legion is pretty much flying solo! We have had relationships in the past years with other companies that do things similar to what we do but this year we don't. That means every existing relationship from years prior no longer exists. I will not mention any names because I will no longer give them free publicity for the numerous 18-hour days I spent building this over the last 10 years, but can say safely that the company that provides you with the best road trips is the one that doesn't have to say it on their website! You already know this but if any of you need 5,000 references, I'd be more than happy to provide them for you. I have numerous surprises in store for San Diego this year and that is what they will be...Surprises! The Legion is the company that brought you The Bone in Dallas of '04. We brought you a parade down Bourbon Street led by cops, revelers, and a high school marching band in October of '06, and we were the company that provided this last year in Chicago, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rosTgC-HlI ! If that ain't enough to get you on one of our trips, I give up!!
So, to the Birds! Believe it or not, I have reason to believe that the Eagles might be a bit more concerned about their public opinion than what they lead you to believe. Does this mean Boldin or Ocho Cinco are going to be in an Eagles uniform this year? I don't know. I am certainly going to give my recommendations in this email, but that and $5 will get you a cup of coffee at Starbuck's. I can tell you that I am amazed at how this offensive line, at least right now and on paper, if healthy, can be one of the biggest, nastiest, and best lines we have ever seen. At first I wasn't thrilled with that Jason Peters trade because I saw potential receiver trade bait gone, but after further consideration, how do you not LOVE this move?
The only thing I hope is that these moves are being made because Andy is planning on running the ball more. If you stick with the 60/40 crap, this move seems useless. Do I use the 21st pick of the draft and a 3rd to get Boldin? Haha...do you guys know me by now? You're damn right I do! Not even a question mark. You put down that goofy number system and the Idiot's Guide to the NFL Draft and you grab him! Look, I have not been a huge Donovan fan, but you have been one touchdown away from the Super Bowl how many times?! James Thrash? Terrell Owens? Yeah, the dude's nuts. But I think he showed you what one other playmaker can do for you. And if you don't see this as the time to pull the trigger and go for it, YOU'RE NUTS!! Can we expect that Kevin Kolb is going to step in and this team doesn't take a step back? Can we assume that he is going to be as successful as Donovan even though Donovan has come up short? It's a GAMBLE! So is drafting a player in the first round! Or any round for that matter! Do you need another running back? Yes. But here's the deal...If Saturday rolls around and you draft a running back, you damn well better run the ball this year! I have had enough of a passing offense that doesn't have a great receiver. I don't know how many times I think I've heard Joe Banner and the rest of the PC execs over at the Eagles say that they believe they are FINE with the receivers they have! Well, I don't want to be FINE! I want to be a WORLD CHAMPION! The only thing I have been for the last decade is disappointed!
So take a shot! PLEASE!! Hey, if it doesn't work, CUT HIM! You take a hit the following year on the cap and that might be the year you start Kolb and it's going to be a rebuilding year anyway! Do it for us! Do it for Donovan! Do it for all the money we have given you to take you to billionaire status!! It's time! Sorry, but I don't think a 170-pound receiver is your number 1! Reggie Brown certainly isn't and neither is Kevin Curtis. But, you put a Boldin into that mix, now your 4th receiver is Brown...That I can handle and I don't think many defenses can.
Should be an interesting weekend as I will be watching the draft from my newly installed Slingbox on my iPhone while at the Phillies/Marlins series! Lol...My God that turns me on!!
